As we anticipate the arrival of our third hardbound release, the SEX Book, we wanted to keep the momentum going as we plot our 4th limited edition group book. With JESUS and MEMENTO MORI, Black Dagger elevated our catalog as not only providing rad accessible artist books, but also higher-end thematic releases as well.
With the announcement and soon to be arrival of the SEX Book, we wanted to curate a project totally wild and unhinged with full faith in the artists to be completely themselves with no restrictions. Our next project, we want to push even further outside of the conventional box by embracing the weirdness, and we would like to invite you to be a part of it!
The concept started around the idea of monsters, cryptids, and other imaginative creatures that may exist within lore but we would also encourage you to create your own. Think of Bigfoot and Mothman, but also some of the lesser known paranormal beings or just make up something even cooler!
Though we are tentatively running with the title of SIDESHOW, we aren't going to take it full classic circus theme but more along the lines of Ripleys Believe It or Not and retro science fiction shows like Twilight Zone and Outer Limits.
We are asking for a May 31st deadline for all submissions to be completed. The book size will be the same as our previous hardbound format of 8x10. Your piece does not need to be this size exactly, but a similar format of equal or greater size in the original piece.
We will not be accepting any digital pieces.
We would also ask for you to include a title with your submission. Think of titles for attractions or shows you would see trying to pull the crowds in to see the spectacle. Go over the top with it as ridiculous as you’d like. Let’s get weird!
