Marie Sena was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, possessing a love of art from an early age. After getting her first tattoo at age 15, she knew she was undeniably drawn to everything that tattoo represented. While continuing to get tattooed and immerse herself in tattoo art, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biological and Pre-Medical Illustration. This unique study focuses on botanical, veterinary, and medical illustration skills. After graduating, Marie was accepted into the Biomedical Communications graduate program at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she studied human anatomy and the art of visually communicating all aspects of medical content.
After graduating in 2006, Marie was introduced to tattooing through an apprenticeship and began tattooing full time. After 10 years of tattooing, she opened a private studio, Electric Eye, with her husband. She continues to do freelance medical illustration work, tattoo, and paint regularly.
Marie’s art draws from her roots in New Mexican culture, science and nature, and the mystic.
